      <description>As of 6 September 2026, a total of 56 locally acquired West Nile virus cases have now been reported during 2026 in the regions of Auvergne-Rh&amp;ocirc;ne-Alpes, &amp;Icirc;le-de-France, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Occitanie and Provence-Alpes-C&amp;ocirc;te d'Azur of mainland France. This is the first time human West Nile virus cases have been detected in the departments of Aude (Occitanie), Seine-et-Marne (&amp;Icirc;le-de-France) and Dr&amp;ocirc;me (Auvergne-Rh&amp;ocirc;ne-Alpes).
